Terry,

Go into terminal mode in your communications program and give your modem the
following command:  AT&F.  This will restore all of the default settings for
your modem.  If it gave you actual connect speeds before, it will do so again
unless your communications program is telling your modem to do something else at
startup.  If you do not have a separate communications program, use the
HyperTerminal program that comes with Windows.  You should be able to find this
program under Programs/Communication.
