I think the point here should be whether or not the "learner" is
included in the out-of-the-box software, not if repitions have occurred.
Why? Because as a player, I study and play the lines that have a
statistically better record than those without: I have a learner with my
 "human software".
I believe that the whole idea behind computers playing chess was to
emulate the humans who played the game, or more specifically, humans who
play the game at its highest levels. These human players would be
worthless if not for the ability to learn from their victories and
defeats.
Now, before anyone says I play favorites, allow me to say that I have
always believed that Rebel programs are the pinnacle of playing
strength, if an engine is the only consideration. However gentlemen, we
are looking at complete programs, not seperate components, and therefore
the inclusion of learning features in the "out-of-the-box" software
should not become an issue.
