Why is this "insane"? It's called From's Gambit to Bird's Opening. After

1.f4 e5
2.fxe5 d6
3.exd6 Bxd6
4.Nf3 Nf6

it is certainly not losing for Black. Out of 21 games in the CM database, it's
+10 =4 -7. There's even a game where an IM beat a GM with it (Malaniuk v
Dyachkov -- Maikop, June 1998).

If you can find a game where Alekhine played Black against 1.f4, let me know,
because there aren't any that I can find.
