It must be a general problem. When I announced that Tiger 14 was going to be
released FOR FREE to all Rebel 11 customers, I think everybody here considered
it was a normal thing.

Computer users are preparing themselves to very bad days. Paying for a program
is not considered normal. Getting it for free is considered normal.

So you can expect the following:
* either quality software is going to disappear (actually it has
  almost already).
* or it will be provided by one big company which will anyway
hold everybody by the balls (so it gets money from other sources).
Sounds familiar, or you still don't understand what's going on?

Or both.

I remember the days when people were microcomputers fanatics, were ready to kill
somebody to get one, and would spend sleepless days and nights exploring the
possibilities and creating new exciting applications.

It was a thousands years ago.

Now everything is much cleaner. All my electronic appliances (car, computer,
handheld computer, cellular phone, digital TV, coffe machine, oscillating fan,
vibrator) are driven by a Windoze-like OS, and to keep everything running
without crashing I just need to pay a $500 yearly ransom to a company known to
promote the "right for innovation". These guys have a real sense of humour.
