I'm not talking about using their email to get the IP. Can't the IP just be recorded automatically when someone posts a message or even before that? For example when I go to http://www.icdchess.com/signup.shtml It shows this: REMOTE_HOST: modemcable129.29-203-**.mtl.mc.videotron.ca REMOTE_ADDR: 24.203.29.*** So that REMOTE_ADDR: 24.203.29.*** is my IP address. If a person has a static IP it's always the same. So if it could be blocked some how, then they could never get back in. Well maybe _never_, but you get the point. I hope I'm not misunderstood :) I've seen it done in other forums before. Only problem is you need a static IP :) Or like you said, you could block out all free e-mail addy's. It could work, for example it doesn't seem to hurt ICC much. Of course, I use a free email provider so don't make it retroactive.... :)
