First you must clearly define what intelligence is.  The best way to do that is
have your antagonist provide the definition.  If they provide a useless
definition, then you cannot demonstrate it.  If they provide a useful definition
then use the definition to demonstrate it.

I imagine that the problem here is that the definition is not clear to both
parties.
