[D] 8/8/1pk1prp1/p6p/2PP1P1P/4P3/3K4/6R1 b - - 0 42 Crafty reached this position as black vs. little goliath in a game (pondering off). After about 8 seconds thinking on my 350 MHz box, crafty played b5. This had the effect of losing the a pawn a few moves later, and the game was quickly lost after that. Crafty may be lost anyway, but b5 doesn't help. Later, I let crafty analyze the position. It liked b5 for about 4 seconds, then switched to Kc7. So my question is, why did Crafty stick with b5 for 8 seconds in the game, but realized in half that time during analysis that the move was inferior?
