This sounds like a great idea. I am very interested in how computers handle correspondence chess. It would also be cool if we could get a very strong (at correspondence) human opponent involved (we could compute the results of the programs with and without the humans to cover both bases). Obviously, some ground rules would have to be laid out, for example, just whose opening book do the programs get to use, etc. But I say go for it! I volunteer to chip in as the operator of one machine. I currently have a 700 Mhz Athlon which I might upgrade and I have some access to two Quad Pentiums (one is a 4x550, the other is a 4 x 700).
