I agree with this point.  The SSDF is not very well known outside those
who read rgcc or ccc.  If you are concerned that someone used
advantageous tools, and hence is going to be able to sell more copies
because of the rating it obtained, then I think you're worrying too
much.

If you want to sell your computer chess programs, then advertise (:
About the only programs I see advertised (on the American side of the
house)
are MChess Pro 7, Chessmaster 5500, and Fritz 5.  I have yet to see an
ad
for Nimzo 98 or Shredder 2.0.  The other programs, like Genius, Rebel,
and
Hiarcs used to have some ads, but I just haven't seen them recently.  I
suppose
the cost of advertising in a chess magazine is more than the profit
they'd make.
