Hi Bruce: Take backs are the more frequent "theoretical" moves played by average computer chess fan when playing his monsters and maybe this is the only reason why all of us have a no- so- bad record against them. I have seen in my own home more than a IM taking back as a fool and then forgetting completely his misbehaviour and talking of "this idiot monster". Of course you can put the program in serious mode and then you cannot take back, but that is the reason we rarely set the program in serious mode. Beside, we love see the lines the computer is processing, take a look at the evaluation (what a heart jump we all suffer when our easy +0,03 advantage suddenly change to -2,89 and then we know the monster has picked up a killer line!) and all the rest. So, I cannot imagine how the program can avoid take backs in normal mode, at least we lose some great price if we do. Perhaps the Queen of Power Chess 98 will NOT take off her shirt if we do or something of the sort. By the way, a somewhat pornographic approach, still unexplored, could do the job. Instead of an english voice voicing heavy jokes, as in fritz, I would prefer a whispering female voice telling me the dirtiest things I have ever heard in my life, provide I don't take back my bad moves. It's an idea... Fernando
