I think the important benchmarks to get are Crafty on a quad 1ghz, Dual 1.5Ghz P4 (maybe this june) Dual 1.330 Athlon, and finally the most important one of all 264DP DEC ALPHA with Dual 833Mhz 4MB DDR Cache low clock speed you think yea i thought so too but in spec2000 scores only the 1.5 Ghz P4 comes close so again i thought ok save several thousand dollars and get a pentium 4 and call it a day.... then i looked at the int scores and it chews up the pentium 4 or any other mainstream cpu. but it is also anywhere from 5-17 thousand dollars. at that rate you are really getting deminishing returns as if you can afford this computer why waste your time here when you could get the 4 processor version or something with lets say 32way :) since compaq is stuborn and they won't wise up and put windows back on they are just going to lose money if i had the money i would buy one but no windows 2000 server why would i want it???? I took linux off my computer once why would i want to buy a computer with unix on it for the same reason?? Hint: most chessprograms dont work on it in fact only a few in dosmeu and crafty. that means no fritz no shredder no rebel , no chess tiger no nothing maybe one day there will be an operating system which can load /save into and out of any other format then the above wouldn't matter
