Look at the crafty SPECInt scores, the P4 is not a very impressive specimen there, if you multiply the Clock of a P4 w 0.6 you get the frequency of a PIII that is equivalent i.e. P4 1.4GHz ~ PIII 850 ,not that impressive. And that is using the best motherboard and memory subsystem, if you skimp there you go under the 50% mark. As for dual P4, they are not SMP capable, in fact the current P4 and motherboard will be phased out this year. Sorry, not upgradable according to Intel. And the 1.7 Ghz P4 is roundly whupped by a 1.33 Ghz Athlon in almost all situations.
