Subject: the silent members

I am glad to hear from Steve that it's ok for us to visit this site
without necessarily having to post.

I enjoy reading the experts (I am always impressed with Amir's
thoughtfulness) but I can't offer much. I could tell you about the games
I've played, describe the hardware I own or plan to buy, and then
proclaim the statistical insignificance of any results which may have
occurred. Or I could maybe join the controversial threads on SSDF,
autotesters, etc. Except I don't have strong feelings about them. For me
Junior is the World Champion and Ferret is the blitz czar. Both for
being there and winning when it counted.

But more importantly, many of us are still viewing a computer chess club
with uneasiness. We have seen what a couple of sociopaths can do to such
a forum. And we are worried that, as the saying goes, people won't
remember whether you stole the watch or it was stolen from you. They
only thing they'll say is that you were involved in a case of theft.

This club managed to survive through tough times. And if not all
decisions were good and timely, it's part of life - let's live with it.
I would like to thank our hosts for their sponsorship. I believe that
most silent members will speak up at some point, if the climate here
remains a moderate one.
