Go back 30 years.  The US dominated.  20 years?  Ditto.  Even 15 years ago
we had a significant list.  But interest has waned.  As have the US participants
(except for a few of us, obviously).  I think the US is now making a come-back
for whatever reasons... we have more and more new chess programs each year...
