There have been some moderators who have been in favor of deleting any post containing profanity, but I don't think that's ever been the majority viewpoint. It's not covered by the charter, and when this has come up in the past, as far as I know we've never censored anyone. I thought the "red headed stepchild" controversy was pretty marginal, but since it is known to cause problems when that metaphor is used, people should have some sense and watch out when they use it. Why walk into trouble? People have used off-color language numerous times over the lifetime of CCC, and as far as I recall the only times it's been mentioned are when 1) it's used in titles, which are very visible, 2) it's used *at* people, which is covered by the charter, or 3) when someone wants to start a campaign against another member because they have an axe to grind. I didn't think there'd be any trouble with my language because I didn't think anyone was following me around looking for a chance to give me shit. I resent your implication that I have now or in the past received favored treatment here. There's no basis for that accusation. Did you even complain to the moderators about this, or did you just start a big stink in here first? They haven't sent me anything, if so. bruce
