Stopping messages from certain domain names. I think it would be good to stop messages from anonymous remailers, but some things like hotmail and AOL, I think you just have to live with it. >b. I don't think you will ever get an AI moderator-bot. That's why we need moderators in the first place. Otherwise, a sed script or perl script could do away with our function entirely. >d. Stopping messages from certain keywords in the Subject body. See above. >e. Consider the use of a software program to achieve any of the above. Won't work. Consider Bruce's 'richard-head' post. Yes, it was a poor term and offensive to some. In fact, if you or some others had complained via the moderator complaint form, I might have considered deleting it. But he was using the term to describe thieving varmits. Not CCC members or things like that. Maybe "thieving varmits" would be better. But I think it would be wrong to automatically bounce Bruce's post. Now, there may be some filtering that is possible. But I think it is far more difficult than most might imagine. >f. I think this is a great idea, but I don't see how it is related to moderation. >2) Would you as a candidate define what you think can be done at CCC > to improve it for the use of all members. One week before elections start to one week after they are over, the whinging twits come out of the woodwork. It's a known effect and happens every term. I really don't think you can do a whole lot about it except to cut them off one by one, after they commit an offense. 48 weeks out of the year, it runs pretty smooth. Personally, I really don't want to play 'thought-policeman' at all. If someone is acting like a jerk, it's pretty plain. The solution is simple too -- remove them. I think any solutions that I have heard proposed cause more problems than they solve. >To any that reply, thank you in advance. > >Sarah.
