Subject: About Votes Once Again but Last I Hope...

Author: Fernando Villegas

Hi all:
As I have seen in the post thar answered mine or that are related in a
way or another to the issue presented buy Steve, it seems to me that
slowly the original idea and my refutation of it has been distorted and
so what really was the point is becoming completely missed. Let me clear
this:
a) The proposition WAS NOT for the member of this club to accept or not
a new vote system to know the opinion of us, people already here in CCC,
but to give a mechanism of participation to people that not participate
otherwise. In other words, the proposition was not directed to create a
new way of comunication for us, but to create a way to give weight to
the ideas or opinions of people that until now does not give anything of
the sort.
b) I am not against a vote system as such or anything else that can be
used by us to express opinion and certainly there are many opportunities
where would be, a Christophe Theron said, a quicker mean to deliver
opinion when we have no the time of will to write longer.
c) what I am against is to the fact that such a system could be used in
an excedingly degree to shape this site by people that has not before
contribute with anything and so are not, in my view, entitle to do that
now so easily.
d) Thinks in this: suppose that there are ten silent readers by each
ocassional or frequent poster. They are silent because they are not
interested enough in what is said here or because they lack something to
say or whatever, but then, suddenly, without any effort to give shape to
his ideas, they get an easy way to overwheel, let us say, the interest
of some programmers to insist in the debate about Fritz. Do you think
fair that because such people does not like to read about that then the
topic must dissappear?
e) In fact, here votation is writting and reading. If you are against
learning features, you write about it and get answers and that is
precisely the purpose of this site. And if you are not interested,
nobody push you to read about it. I don't see the utility to create a
monster mechanism with wich an issue could disappear just because a lot
of "silent" people is more interested to be explaine what a heck is a
tree or a ply.
f) I insist: nobody is forbidden to be part of this operatioin as much
as he write and read the answers and so and so. This is not a magazine,
this is nott PC Home. This is an entity whose existence coincide 100%
with contributions, good or bad, of people willing to do so. Is not
something just to be read or to give information. You can do it, of
course, but then if yopu do only that, then you are outside of it by
definition.
g) Vote system? OK, if is understood as a mean to improve communication
between people already engaged here, with name and surname. Vote system?
No, if gives power to anybody to shape how this site will develope on
the ground of what a silent and anonimous entity wants.
