Of course, there are many program trying this. At least I'd bet so. It's a
rather old idea, which had been already used by some pioneers of computer chess.
But one has to be very carefully because it tends to explode the trees. I guess
that one should generate captures only in interesting position (e.g. not too far
from the full search horizon).
