Here is the final position of the just-completed game in the finals of the Rapid Chess World Cup tournament between GM Bareev and GM Kasparov. Bareev resigned here. Kasparov,G - Bareev,E [D]8/8/8/pkp2p1p/5P1P/PP1K4/8/8 b - - 0 1 Granted, GM Bareev had very little time left, and the position LOOKS lost for Black after 44. Kd3 Kc6 45. Kc4 Kd6 46. Kb5 (46. a4 Kc6 is a draw)...Kd5, but Fritz thinks it's a draw, e.g. 47. Kxa5 Ke4 and the race is on. Maybe somebody with a faster computer than mine can discover the truth about this position. Is it a draw? JOHN
