Fair comment. Clearly, self-play is judging the position rather than the contestants, albeit with a pale immitation of one of the contestants. Agreed, Shredder has played relative strongly in endgames in WMCC2000 etc and may not be as 'down' as it appears. My untutored impressions of the self-play are that White makes the play while Black has to sit and take it, White's RB combine better than Black's RB ... the wK has the shelter of the 2 wPs ... and eventually Black's Pg7 proves the weakness. Rs are exchanged and ... when it's essentially over Bs too. Black is 1 move away from a draw in a KPK finish and KQK mate. May not work out this way but it was interesting. G
