Subject: questions on buying a new computer

I was thinking I would buy a Palomino when those came out in June, but I
recently saw an article saying that they wouldn't be out until fall. Is this
true? Also, I read about AMD's 64 bit chip. When these come out in 2002, will
they replace 32 bit chips, and be much faster? Will I be able to upgrade to a 64
bit from a 32 bit?
I know that's a lot of questions, but the main one is- I want a computer that
will last for awhile, be upgradable, and be able to not only run chess p rograms
well but also games, so when should I buy? Now, soon, in a year?
