Rajen is right. If you're going to wait for the fastest pc around, or until the next generation is more permanent than the current, I'll see you in the year 2347. Look around on the internet for some information. Choose *components* that can be upgraded. That mostly doesn't count for "new architecture jumps like PIII to PIV or 32 to 64 bit. Choose a motherboard from a supplier that will supply you with frequent revisions of their BIOS, so that new and faster peripherals and new processors can be supported. Maybe that doesn't count for one generation on another, but I bought a MB three years ago with a PII and my MB manufacturer provided BIOS for coppermines, so now I run a PIII@850 without problems. Set the bus speed somewhat higher without problems. I put a new 32mb videobord in instead of the 8mb original one, put in 512Mb in stead of the original 128Mb RAM. And so on. You even can choose a faster controller for the newest generation of HD's. (When I read all those stories about "the fastest computers, and a lot of people drooling over the Quad processor bunch of Bob Hyatt - well, I 'wouldn't decline it, but I sure want the SCSI more at this moment than all the quads and duals now. Driving your Ferrari through downtown LA or Manhattan for that matter won't get you to the 200Mph top speed it promises.:)) Good luck with the decision anyhow. J.
