So the increase of speed is due to the fact that the hard disk has apparently become smaller due to the partitions. It's difficult to say by how much exactly the speed increased because before I did not pay so much attention to it, but it is a remarkable increase otherwise I would not have brought this subject up for discussion. Is it possible that software in other partitions (apart from the Windows partition that is the only one that I use) is active or is that technically impossible ? How can I delete the software in the other partitions ? I'm reluctant to use FDisk and I do not want to screw up the Windows partition as well. Pete
