On my machine, crafty comes out of book at +4.5 (good for white) the first time it has to think. It would not normally play such a gross line except that the book is set to play fairly wide choices to provide variety. reduce 'book width' setting and this will not happen. also resign=3 is not a great idea. I have seen GM players lose games where Crafty was down a rook or more...
