fire your beta testers. how did all the bugs get by without being reported?

the worst bug was the lack of time control that was allowing ch8000 to make
instant moves. your beta testers didnt report this? amazing.

it is amazing in this high tech world that we allow a product to be sold in this
condition. what if this had been your new car john, and it had a bug, and only
turned left? could you get home going left only john? what if the service man
told you, "dont worry, we are working on a patch, drive careful, the patch will
be released in four weeks". it is amazing that this is excepted by the chess
world to release a product in this condition.

please dont tell me that all bugs cant be worked out before the release. i am
very aware of this. i deal with software bugs everyday in my job.

you know what the worst thing about the cm8000 buggy release? the people that
dont read here, the people that dont know about the patch, the kid that is using
cm8000 to play online, and keeps getting beat because cm8000 keeps moving
instantly regardless of the time control.

i bought my 8000 when it first came out. immediately i noticed the time control
problem, but i didnt say anything because i could see the process here, in this
forum, for handling cm8000. i am saying this now because of this thread, and
cm9000. this is 2001, it is time for chessmaster 9000 to take a step up in
quality control and strength, with the next release.
