If you like computer first person shooters then get the Pentium 1.5 chip. If you are just into speed and computer chess then get the AMD. I would recommend an AMD 1.3 Ghz processor because it is less expensive than a Pentium and with the extra money you can get more RAM ie 512 to 1024 Mb. It is hopeless to keep up with the obsolescence. In five years from now we will all be using 10 Ghz single processor machines with 1000 Gbyte storage drives and looking at flat plastic panel 30 inch monitors.
