If I had known that you wanted to play against an old version of Chessmaster, I
would have pointed you to this "easter egg" that is in both CM7000 and CM8000.
You can actually play against Chessmaster 2000 (the original version of
Chessmaster) by doing the following:

In any room, go to "About -> About Chessmaster X000". There will be a slideshow
of several dozen pictures on the left of this dialog, changing pictures every 5
seconds. Wait for the picture of the Chessmaster 2000 box to appear, and
RIGHT-CLICK anywhere on the picture of the box. This will launch Chessmaster
2000. I might warn you, though, that on some machines, ALT-TABbing away from
CM2000 is not a good idea, and can cause visual problems until CM2000 is closed.
