You are using different >pairs of copper... I don't suppose ADSL slows it down, but if the server at the other side had used up it's bandwidth, it might become a problem. It's like trying to drive your Ferrari through a traffic jam. The car can make 200mph without problems, but the highway can't afford it, because of the limited bandwidth at that moment :) J.
