This isn't directly relevant to chess, but if you use GCC and want to optimize your program, you might want to check out this nice article: http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/linux/library/l-ia.html Visual C++ can do inline assembly, too, but GCC is much more flexible. I wasn't familiar with all the features it has. --Jon
