I recently got the chance to play a few games with one of the latest Yace
versions and the results have impressed me very much . Although the number of
games is not big enough to provide statistical significance (lol) I think they
suggest Yace might very well be the strongest free Amateur program around and
has no problems to compete with the commercials successfully .
It would be nice to see it included in the SSDF list at some time .
Analyzing the games themselves shows an engine with no big weaknesses , a strong
allrounder . Several of the draws were lucky for the opponents , not for Yace (
maybe still weaknesses in finish ?! ) .
Games played on 2 PIII500 / 128 MB RAM ; Time control Game in 1 hour/10 secs
increment .
Yace 0.99.X - Junior 6 1.0 - 1.0
1-0 0-1
Yace 0.99.X - WChess 2000 ( Game/60 minutes ) 0.5 - 1.5
0-1 1/2
Yace 0.99.X - Chess Tiger 14.0 1.0 - 1.0
1/2 1/2
Yace 0.99.X - Fritz 5.32 1.5 - 0.5

Yace 0.99.X - Shredder 5 1.0 - 1.0

The game of the series easiest to post was one of the Yace losses though (
probably already 22. ... BXf5 ? should have been avoided ) :
