When it comes to inter-version matches, chess programs are like DC3's -- you can knock 12 feet off of one wing and it won't make that much difference. There might be other causes of this problem. The classic case is when you score rook mobility. The rook starts out with a mobility of zero, if you play a4, that rook has a mobility of three, which might change the score attributed to the rook. Did your fix seem to make the problem go away? bruce
