I actually had one Win98se machine stay up for almost 7 days straight under
heavy usage (10 or 15 open applications, compiling code, internet access,
etc.). But that is very unusual. Usually it crashes after one or two
days, sometimes twice in a day.

My record is with a Win98se machine that I keep up continuously and run
very few programs on (usually just my chess program, Shrike). That
machine stayed up 29 days before crashing...

How did anyone ever figure out that Windows would crash at 49 days? Maybe
it's only a "theoretical" bug--49.7 days being equal to the number of
milliseconds that can be counted with a 32-bit number :).
