It's free, it's easy to setup[with it's own GUI] and it's strong [for a free
program]

The next popular one mentioned is Rebel Decade ..the helpful ones usually  also
post the url to gambitsoft.. People seldom mention Crafty, because perhaps they
think the newbies are not up to handling Winboard.

I think it's a Force of habit, not sure who started it, but those are the
standard replies given on rgcc, whenever someone asks "where can I get a
freeware Chess program"..

No you can change the pulldown bars,menus to English, but there is no online
english help files though, you have to download it..
