Chris Whittington alone is the man behind the knowledge of CSTal. I am only trying to be a friend, looking sometimes in his efforts, trying to find out which version is fast, making endless "lists" of bugs, trying to advise about feature-implementation, trying to hold the connections to customers and trying to inform him about HOW GERMANS do think about his program and WHAT GERMANS would need (germans have different color wishes than e.g. americans.). So : chris is the guy you have to thank you for the astonishing playing style. He has invented methods to make tal sacrifycing non mechanically. He has found methods to implement knowledge into one of the slowest programs of computerchess-history and made it possible that - although CSTal only computes less NPS than any other program, it is capable to generate a good playing strength out of it and STILL find ways to soundly sac and NOT to be outsearched by the fast-searchers. Magnificent imo. >At least for me to beat CSTAL is a lot harder and >frequently imposible task than to defeat Fritz 5. >fernando This is another compliment I can only subscribe to. Will tell chris about these wishes from you, though he is not able to read them here.
