You are wrong about your assumption about the ordinary ones. Not only chessbase programs use the nalimov tablebases. Shredder4,Shredder5 and Tiger14 and a lot of amatuers also use the nalimov tablebases when the position in the board is not a tablebase position. and if this is so, the nalimov EGTBs >should lead to more efficent play by the chess programmes? The nalimov tablebases are used by top programs in the last years and it is known that they are used in the search. Uri
