Makes no sense to advice lower rated GM's to go for tactical positions
as they will be beaten after all most probably in less moves. However
for a computer this makes a lot sense. Create positions on the board
who are unusual for the human brain. The art is of course to program
such an algorithm without the loss of strength.
I just read the article on the chessbase page about Deep Blue-Kasparov
and Kasparov's view on the match. See:
http://www.chessbase.com/magazine/expres62/expres62.htm
Obliged stuff for every chess computer lover in my opinion.
Kasparov is right in many points IMHO. My criticism to him is that he
should have thought about these points BEFORE the match. I wish IBM
will honor this second (third) request of Kasparov. On the other hand
it isn't funny to be accused of cheating.

Rebel does well against humans, always has done. Here is the AEGON
statistic 1991-1997:
TOP 12 FOR THE MAIN-COMPUTER PROGRAMMES
1991-1997
----------------------------------------------------------------
1. Rebel +21 = 8 - 7 25/36 = 69.4%
2. Chess Genius +15 = 9 - 6 19½/30 = 65.0%
3. Chessica (Fritz) + 9 = 5 - 4 11½/18 = 63.8%
4. Hiarcs +16 = 6 - 8 19/30 = 63.3%
5. The King (Chessmaster) +22 =14 -12 29/48 = 60.4%
6. M-Chess Pro +26 = 5 -17 28½/48 = 59.3%
7. Chessmaster (The King) + 8 = 5 - 5 10½/18 = 58.3%
8. Virtual Chess + 9 = 3 - 6 10½/18 = 58.3%
9. Fritz +14 =13 - 9 20½/36 = 56.9%
10. Quest (Fritz) +15 =11 -10 20½/36 = 56.9%
11. Kallisto +17 = 6 -13 20/36 = 55.5%
12. Nimzo +12 = 6 -12 15/30 = 50.0%

A few weeks ago I released a Human versus Machine database. Contents:
- AEGON 1991-1997 complete.
- Harvard Cup 1989-1995.
- Special matches like Deep Blue-Kasparov, Rebel-Yusupov etc.
- In total 1900 games.
Downloadable from the Rebel9 subscription area.
