I ran a couple test openings... [Event ""] [Site ""] [Date "2001.4.8"] [Round ""] [White "Test01"] [Black "Chessmaster"] [TimeControl "300+3"] [Result "*"] 1. d4 d5 2. c4 c6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Nf3 dxc4 5. a4 Bf5 6. e3 e6 * [Event ""] [Site ""] [Date "2001.4.8"] [Round ""] [White "Test01"] [Black "Chessmaster"] [TimeControl "300+3"] [Result "*"] 1. Nf3 d5 2. d4 Nf6 3. c4 c6 4. Nc3 dxc4 5. a4 Bf5 6. e3 e6 * I wish to express is that Test01.cmp, with import pgn book specific to primarily these two lines, both sides seem to play it ok through at least 6. e3 e6 Both line are in my test book so transposition is not required. Maybe things would be different if Chessmaster were white, but it is hard to get the lines we wish to look at to play... Chessmaster book and settings are default, the games played a bit longer but I snipped after move 6. The real curiosity, as I see it, is that in CM8000.obk I see 1. Nf3 50wt d5 100wt 2. d4 100wt At 2. d4 there is no + symbol with no following moves... Also see 1. d4 d5 2. Nf3 Nf6 3. c4 c6 In this line 3 ... c6 also has 100wt but no + symbol or continuing moves... Maybe this is by design, and Chessmaster will pick up as transposition? What I'm interested in is your b) and c) comments. This is definately how I made Tournament.obk. Is my book affected and playing poorly? I suspect that I maybe did not need Chessmaster tranposition code as the lines where probably present in my book. Anyway, I'm over my head, and not 100% with what you two are discussing so I will bow out. Good hunting, BK
