I have Rebel Century and would like to handicap it so I can play a more even game. One obvious way to do this is to reduce the amount of time the computer can think. But there are two choices under the Options command. Under Playing Strength I can pick Novice, Club Player, and Strong Club Player. I believe, if I remember correctly, that these settings will occasionally make a mistake and allow you to grab a pawn (or more rarely, a piece). Under Personalities there are several options of well-known GM's, as well as Strong Club Player (again!), Average Club Player, and Novice Player. All else being equal, will REbel be stronger if I picked "Club Player" under the Playing Strength section-- than if I had pick both that setting and "Average Club Player" under the Personalities section? We you guys hadicap this program, do you prefer to pick these club settings, or keep Rebel on its strongest settings but reduce the amount of time is has to calculate? Oh, and in re of playing a computer setting that is capable of being beaten, do you think it's better to fiddle around with the REbel settings, or play ChessMaster8000 personalities and save Rebel for game analysis?
