The burden is always on the poster to be as polite as the circumstance allows. We do not become justified in rudeness because we perceive that others have been rude. I usually find that a reasoned response is far more convincing than a rude retort anyway. Don't you? You are right that time is better spent talking about computer chess. However discussions of topicality are always topical. Discussions about decorum are also logical in any forum of interchange.
