But, yes you are right, it is disturbing! Two your second Problem: It only "seems". I tried it on my W2000 witch has a much better memory and CPU management than W95/98/Me and I have no Problems at all with S5. But there is another little disadvantage within S5. You cant play blitz games on a fair way via Autoplayer because the S5-GUI is loosing time transfering the data from the RS232 to the engine. E.g. at a average 5 min blitz with 60 moves I have to play a 4 min for S5 and a 5 min for the other Program. Or in other words: S5 is loosing at least 1 second per move. You cant play short time controls. Of course this doesent matter on longer (eg. 30min up) time controls. What OS are you using? Bye Ingo PS: After some Testing with this kind of connection i dont trust it very much. It is better to use a dual or (much better) on two PC.
