For the record: are you talking about a stand alone chessboard that can be connected to your PC chess programs like the DGT-board, Tasc-board (deceased?) or Novag-board? I don't think there are so many around. If you want to choose between these it could basically become to the factors: - how compatible is the board with *your* chess programs - do you like how it looks. If you're talking about a standalone chess *computer*, a dedicated machine, you can't say "which is the best", but only "with my wishes, which is the best". Some questions you might ask yourself as to what purpose the machine will serve: - the strongest play - the most configurable - add ons like opening modules/databases available - as full size as possible - portability/compactness - lots of training features - strength can be tweaked from Elo zilch to Elo max. AFAIK most dedicated chess microcomputers will play a weaker game than most top commercial and freeware programs. Take the time to define your wishes, stroll the Internet for machines and features, and narrow your search in this way. After all it's your money and your decision what you like most. BTW I suspect / no doubt there is a list with users of these machines. Maybe someone knows. Good luck with the considerations. Jeroen
