I'm looking to create the 5-man Nalimov TBs. I note that Hyatt has the tbgen.exe tool for such task. However, I read a post that mentioned Dann Corbit's available tools on his ftp site in directory /pub/chess-engines/new-approach I find in directory: tbgen.zip tbgeni.exe tbgenm.exe tbgenv.exe Of these, tbgenv.exe has the most recent post date of 3/23/2001. My questions: 1- Which tool is best for me to create complete 5-man Nalimov TBs? What is the advantage of Corbit's generator vs Hyatt's tbgen? And what are the differences between the various files on Corbit's site? 2- In post found at http://www.chesskit.com/aarontay/Winboard/EndgameP.html , the poster suggests pointing to the directory containing UNcompressed 3 and 4 man TBs when using tbgen.exe to make the 5-man EGTBs. Is it necessary to point to the UNcompressed versions or can one point to .emd compressed versions? 3- Reading the above-mentioned post in question 2, do you find these instructions accurate to complete my task of generating complete 5-man Nalimov TBs? Please explain any points that need clarification or correction. I have Athlon 1 GHz w/ 768 Mb RAM. TIA. ed seid hawaii chess project
