Dos 6.22 is a LOT better than Dos 5.0. There's just too much that 5.0 is
missing. My experince with DR-Dos is that it's better than MS-Dos, but it can
be confusing (just a little bit).

Like Timothy mentioned, those programs should probably work in Windows95's Dos
just fine. You may or may not have to dig up a mouse driver though, because a
lot of computers with Windows, don't load up the mouse when you boot up straight
into Dos. I had that problem with Windows98 and never found a good fix for it,
other than a batch file that would load the mouse driver when I'd boot straight
into Dos. But when I'd start the computer into Windows, and from there, restart
it into Dos, THEN the mouse driver would allready be loaded, so it would be just
fine for Chess programs and editors in Dos.

If you're a non-computer type, you might want to find a book about Dos if you
plan to spend much time there. Dos For Dummies is a very shallow look at Dos,
but in all actuality, Dos is a whole lot easier than that book makes it out to
be, basically all the commands do pretty much what they say they'll do, and you
have to be rather exact about all the commands you give. It's a piece of cake
operating system once you get used to it.
