The "Donald Duck" qualifikation in a "Micky Mouse" tournament >is not interesting. I myself think it's rather insulting the way you've chosen to put it. I see nothing wrong with a qualifying tournament if Deep Shredder is the best comp v comp let it prove it. Right now in my mind Deep Fritz is #1. And I think also IMO that that qualifying tourney should be run by either the SSDF or Enrique. Also it's kinda irrelevant which program wins comp v comp when actually what's going to play is comp v human. Who knows if any of the Deeps are as strong v humans as other programs. Ed himself made a good point for a number of programs to be included, against humans I would also add Crafty to the list. Assuming time limitations or sponsor requirements then likely any of the Deeps will play and do equally well. >Shredder won all important tournaments and I think it is not a question which >program can / must play against Vladimir Kramnik. No, it is a question. Were Shredder to play, I for one would be thinking why didn't we play the strongest program currently rated Deep Fritz or play a qualifying tourney which you indicate will happen. >The question for me is now: >If Enrique play a quallification tournament I can`t believe that the TOP >programmer will start on this tournament. Don't understand the question. Unless what you mean is Stefan won't be running Shredder Enrique will. Isn't Enrique a beta tester for Shredder? that being the case I'm sure he will perform equally well for it as for the other programs. >Now we will see ... >I lose my interest on computer chess if I see that Shredder can`t not play >directly against Vladimir Kramnik.
