Our Top Ten of PC chess programs
Since the release of the latest SSDF Rating List of Feb 22 there has
been serious controversy about its validity. The Fritz 5 program has
been tested in a special configuration which strongly differs from the
generally available product. This inevitably presented a distorted
picture of the true conditions.

From now on, we are publishing our own Top Ten of chess programs. It is
based on the SSDF Rating List but includes currently available programs
only. The rating numbers are rounded and correspond with the SSDF
ratings based on Pentium MMX 200 computers.

place program author hardware Elo

1 - 3 Rebel 9.0 E. Schroeder Pentium MMX 200 2530

This is in the news section of www.computerchess.com. I guess there copy
of Fritz 5 could not reproduce the SSDF games as mine did. Or did they
just take this action with out any proof what so ever. If they have
proof that the out of box Fritz 5 plays diffrent moves please post the
games here.
