Go up one level in this thread
Hi Sarah, snip ... sorry ! >a match. I know they say we don't need to play such a match as we already >are the only qualified program, but the choice isn't to play the current world >champion program it is to play the current strongest program. And this is the point. You can not sure say this is the strongest program. I say this, a lot of very strong programs played at the moment on an very high level. We all know that Chess Tiger, Fritz, Junior and other programs are very strong. In fact: World Master of the latest years is Shredder ! The most what you say is here in my opinion not correct. We have 2 possibilities for the moment (see not a better way). 01. Idea by Ed Schröder: 1-2 or 3 grandmasters played a tourney against the "strongest" (not sure) chess programs of the World. 02. We organize with big firms a new and high quality World Championchip. Also interesting in combination with humans (Point 1, idea by Ed Schröder). Point 1 or 2 is only interesting if we have a chance to make a good publicity for computer chess. When not, I can not believe that the World Champion Stefan Meyer Kahlen have interest to play a qualifikation. I speak not for Stefan (is clear) but I think a programmer which won all important tourneys must play vs. the World Champion Vladmir Kramnik. Best Frank
