that is correct sarah. it is working fine now. the indication that the swap.bat file has worked----the minus sign in front of b3 and Nf3 is not there after the gambit book is loaded. the standard book has a minus sign in front of Nf3 and b3. another thing i learned from you is that the program cannot be open, when you click the swap.bat i closed the program. clicked on the icon, i downloaded mine to my program files, (which is the shortcut to the file swap.bat), worked ok. thanks again
