Their number is always changing, and a perfect >database may show this and may allow a user to change ELO numbers >according to a date+month+year. Actually REBEL allows to put the same >ELO to all the games belonging to a player. >It would not be exact, but a user may put the ELO figures found in the >FIDE or PCA listings in a montly basis. This is of course true. On the other hand this is impossible to program. One should create a "command file" with multiple (lots of) entries with the history elo ratings of one player. I would say, mission impossible? Secondly there is another group of users who wants to have ONE elo for every player in the database. Quite a problem for developers to please both groups. Future REBEL databases will be released with elo ratings based on the history of a chess player and his career. If you are not in (this) group-1 DBUTIL 2.5 offers you the possibility to switch to group-2. I don't know how a better solution can be found to please both groups. Oh yes there is of course but then I need a list of the (let's say) world's 1000 top players and their elo career through the years. If somebody makes such a list for me it will be my pleasure to change DBUTIL 2.5 accordingly. Example..... Kasparov,G=1977=2500 Kasparov,G=1978=2530 Kasparov,G=1979=2570 Kasparov,G=1980=2630 and so on. And for 1000 players. Dead line December 31, 2099 :)) - Ed -
