The arrangements do sound acceptable to most people I imagine. The conditions
are probably reasonable as well. But the extent of the "invitations" and the
reasoning used are quite ludicrous. It's no major surprise that the possible SMP
capable programs are limited in number considering the secrecy used. And it also
reveals a certain ignorance about the state of computer chess today IMO.

How much credibility will there be left if neither DB or Deep Shredder agree to
participate? Maybe Frans Morsch and Amir Ban can arm wrestle for the honour.
That should result in some publicity. Amateurs.
