I think I was clear about why. IMO any use of SSDF in this event, touted as a kind of world championship, when its seemingly an ad hoc assemblage of programs, albeit chosen by such esteemed personages as Bertil and Enrique, will damage the reputation of SSDF. I think that without SSDF all we will have is basement tournaments and the occasional championship, and thus even less information to base our purchases of chess programs. My reason was that simple, pure miserliness. As for your ad hominem on my motive: How could I possibly be jealous of a person who has had to spend so much time tending computers as Bertil? Regards Dan Andersson PS Rajen, you should be careful when making assumptions, they often tell more about the person who made them than about their target. :) DS
